Montpelier Comes to the Club

Tuesday, July 15, 6pm – 8pm

Join us at the Club to hear about this year’s session in Montpelier with State Reps Emile Carris Duncan, Jonathan Cooper, Mike Nigro, and as well as State Senator Rob Plunkett. One of the beautiful things about living in such a small state (population-wise) is that we can have direct access to our representatives. We are delighted that these four people serving on our behalf are happy to join us for an informal panel discussion.

A Cut Out of Time

Every person in our family enjoyed the relaxation of this unique setting but each one discovered rooms or areas that appealed especially to them. The well-stocked playroom was a popular place and large enough to accommodate train tracks from home. Grandpa practiced saxophone and piano on the stage, was joined by the more musically inclined and drew an audience away from the pool table. Grandma enjoyed reading in the flower garden but was lured away by the children on the pirate ship and in the pool. Sitting on the deck in perfect silence in early mornings was a treat. We found several family activities and restaurants within a short driving distance but time did not allow us to do everything we had planned. Two true highlights were the visit to a sheep farm across the road and the demonstration of the collection of symphonians and antique music boxes. This demonstration was given by our charming and hospitable hostess, Jenny, who adds her own special touches to make each visit unforgettable.

Best Thanksgiving Ever!

We have a family tradition of big Thanksgivings, with the extended family now having outgrown even the largest of our homes. Rather than break up the act, we have rented houses for the last couple of years. We are too big for last year’s rental but we found Karin’s Place. It had everything we needed – including beds for everyone. This house is amazing in so many different ways and is very well-equipped for a crowd – plenty of dishes, glassware, pots and pans, a commercial 6 burner stove top, two large ovens and two refrigerators, with enough counter space to cook up a storm and feed a small army. And great spaces, including a performance space, which we actually used for a performance. Because of the weather we didn’t spend much time outside, except for the kids, who loved the playground. The big kids loved the hot tub. Everybody had a great time and loved the house – and there were many conversations about coming here again for other occasions. And Jenny is fabulous! She is very accommodating and totally committed to making her guests comfortable and happy. Could not have asked for more!!

“Stop the World…”

It is without saying that we all voted, children as well,  that your special hideaway was  the  most inviting and unique haven that made us whisper “Stop the world I want to get off.” Clearly your gifted interior design abilities, coordinating all the memorable pieces from your parents world made it all the more exciting for us. As we are a musical family the treasures shared were so novel and cherished in our minds and in the photos that were taken by each of our families.

What a truly special discovery

Karin’ Place – what a truly special discovery. One of those random things that seems to have been meant to be. My husband and I had been looking for a venue to host the renewal of our wedding vows where our guests could stay with us. A friend of mine suggested Karin’s Place and it was perfect. We received spectacular customer service from Jenny and John in advance of our arrival. We live in Ireland and consequently had significant needs as we were able to do very little from so far away.

The event itself was a stunning success. 25 guests stayed at Karin’s Place with us and 30 stayed in nearby hotels. We used the caterer suggested by Jenny and WOW!! Good call. The food was immaculately presented and was absolutely delicious with just enough left overs to fulfil the late night munchies.

We had the ceremony on the deck overlooking the expanse of lawn fringed by woodland. We had the meal in the patio surrounded by landscaped gardens, the pirate ship playground, and various nooks for intimate chats. And in the background we could hear the delighted yelps and laughter of kids in the pool. Absolute bliss.  When a dramatic summer thunder storm arrived just after the meal, everyone filed into the Grand Room and the party established itself in there with dancing and music.

I cannot recommend Karin’s Place highly enough. It’s a deeply romantic and inspiring location. Enhanced greatly by the creativity and innovation shown by Jenny and John.

“…gorgeous and serene”

Our stay at Karin’s Place was extremely relaxing. Our room was spacious and our beds were comfortable. We had full access to the kitchen and other facilities in the house, and had plenty of space to unwind. The backyard is gorgeous and serene. We will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to others who are looking for a tranquil, quiet place to stay that has all the comforts of home.

“Worlds away!”

Our recent stay at Karin’s Place was absolutely incredible.  Only a short drive from us, we felt like we were worlds away!  The property is gorgeous and we had a great time relaxing in the swimming pool, on the deck and in all of the lounge spaces that the home provides.  We came up for the annual Garlic Festival which was just a short drive away, and during our stay we also managed to go to some close-by attractions (i.e., Bennington Pottery, the Clark Museum, and Williams College).  There are so many breathtaking views in Pownal, we can’t wait to go back when the leaves start to change!
