JOHN KIRK is a nationally recognized singer, multi-instrumentalist, recording artist, dance caller, and educator who was inducted into the North American (and NY) Fiddler’s Hall of Fame in 2022. He and his wife and musical partner, TRISH MILLER, form the band Quickstep, where John is the primary vocalist and instrumental wizard on fiddle, mandolin, and more, while Trish plays banjo, guitar and provides fancy footwork with percussive dance steps. The duet has twice been nominated for Eddie Awards in New York’s Capitol district. Together, the couple has been working and teaching in upstate New York for over three decades, presenting traditional tunes and witty songs with unique arrangements and warm clear vocals. Both are music instructors at Skidmore College, and John is also on the music faculty at Bennington College.

Bulgarian-born violinist JOANA GENOVA has built a diverse career as a chamber and orchestral musician, soloist, and teacher. She is co-artistic director of Taconic Music, and adjunct faculty at Williams and Bennington Colleges. Joana performs at festivals and concert series with The Indianapolis Quartet, Vermont Symphony’s Jukebox Quartet, Taconic String Quartet and as a guest musician throughout the United States and in Europe, most recently Italy and Bulgaria.

Joana has been guest concertmaster of the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Carmel Symphony and Louisiana Philharmonic. She earned her bachelor’s degree at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and her master’s in chamber music at the Rotterdam Conservatory. Joana performs on a Johannes Cuypers violin made in The Hague in 1786.

YOSHIKO SATO studied in Keio University in Tokyo, at The Hartt School of Music in Connecticut, and École Normale de Musique de Paris in France. Yoshiko has won numerous prizes in several competitions and given recitals in Japan, the United States, France, and Switzerland. She has appeared as soloist with the Manchester Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra de Cambra de L’Emporda in Spain, the Hartt Symphony Orchestra, and with the Sage City Symphony. In 2009, Sato and tenor Thomas Bogdan released a recording of Hungarian folk song settings by Bartok and Kodaly. Sato’s recordings of Allen Shawn’s Childhood Scenes, and Nocturne for Y can be heard on CDs from Albany Records. Sato has been an accompanist and instructor at Bennington since 1999.
